Start with the public record, not assumptions
LoloBuy's public material presents a cross-border shopping service that connects product discovery, warehouse quality-inspection feedback and international shipping. The official Google Play listing also describes payments plus language and currency support; it showed an update date of 20 September 2026 when checked. Apple's official listing showed version 1.0.7 on 25 September. These are useful facts about the published service, but they are not evidence that every product or shipping route is available to every Irish address.
No official source reviewed for this guide publishes one permanent Ireland freight price, a guaranteed delivery window, automatic customs clearance or a promise that every quote includes Irish VAT, duty and carrier administration. Treat the live parcel quote as evidence for one packed carton on one date. Confirm destination availability, accepted contents, chargeable weight, declared contents, tax wording, tracking and compensation terms before payment.
Build an order record before the seller page changes
Save the original seller URL, seller name, listing title, selected colour, size or model, quantity, item price, domestic delivery terms and capture date. Keep the checkout and payment confirmation. A spreadsheet can help identify products, but it does not replace the live listing or transaction record. If a seller edits or removes the page, your saved material is the clearest way to show what variation was ordered.
Record facts that matter to the category. For clothing, save the measurement chart rather than trusting a letter size. For footwear, keep foot or insole length. For electronics, note model, plug, voltage, radio functions, batteries and included accessories. For toys, cosmetics, protective equipment and radio devices, check Irish and EU product requirements before purchase. A marketplace listing or warehouse photograph is not proof that an item may legally enter Ireland.

Use warehouse QC for questions a photograph can answer
Compare available inspection evidence with the saved order: identity, quantity, colour, visible condition, labels and accessories. Ask focused questions that can change the dispatch decision. Is the measurement consistent with the seller chart? Is the model number legible? Is the required connector included? Is a seam damaged or a print visibly misaligned? If an important point is missing and a suitable inspection option is offered, request that specific view rather than asking for a vague recheck.
QC has limits. Lighting can alter colour, perspective can distort proportions and packaging can hide surfaces. A photo cannot prove electrical safety, chemical composition, battery capacity, authenticity, radio conformity or a valid EU declaration of conformity. Use visible evidence to approve, clarify or use the current seller and platform return process. Download the files and your decision notes before submitting the parcel.
Calculate landed cost in four separate layers
Keep four cost layers separate. Product cost includes the item, seller delivery inside China, currency conversion and checkout charges. Warehouse cost contains only inspection, protection or repacking services actually selected. International freight begins after packing and depends on final dimensions, actual weight, chargeable weight, route restrictions, tracking and protection terms. The Ireland layer contains import VAT, customs duty and any courier, postal or clearance administration fee.
Compare routes using the same packed carton and Eircode. Record the quote date, contents, measurements, billed weight and compensation terms. Consolidation may remove repeated base charges, but it is not automatically cheaper: dimensional weight, route bands, restricted goods and the number of customs classifications may alter the result. Mark each number as quoted, paid, estimated or final, then replace estimates with the carrier statement and import document.

Understand Irish VAT and the €150 dividing line
Irish Revenue says personal-use goods bought outside the EU can attract customs duty, VAT and, for some categories, excise, anti-dumping or countervailing duty. VAT is charged at the rate that would apply if the goods were bought in Ireland. Revenue's current worked examples use the 23% standard rate for a laptop and adult clothing. Reduced or zero rates can apply to qualifying goods, so 23% is a planning reference for standard-rated products, not a universal rate.
For goods over €150, Revenue calculates customs value from the goods cost plus relevant transport and insurance. The applicable conventional duty rate depends on classification. Import VAT is then calculated on the customs value plus duty or other tax, excluding VAT itself. Revenue's examples also show courier or postal administration as a separate charge. Do not estimate VAT only on the seller price and call it a final landed cost.
Apply the €3 low-value duty by product type
Since 1 July 2026, Irish Revenue says a €3 customs duty charge applies to most e-commerce packages worth €150 or less that enter Ireland from outside the EU. The charge is based on distinct product types or tariff codes, not simply the number of physical pieces. It is separate from VAT and any delivery-company administration fee.
Revenue gives useful examples. A notepad, pen and keyring use three different classifications and attract €9. Silk blouses and cotton T-shirts form two distinct types and attract €6. Two identical cotton T-shirts form one type and attract €3. The European Commission similarly explains that five T-shirts under one classification produce one €3 charge, while T-shirts and a watch produce €6.
This makes both '€3 per parcel' and '€3 for every physical item' unreliable shortcuts. Material and function may affect classification. For parcels over €150, the flat low-value method is not the complete calculation. Never undervalue, split or misdescribe goods to try to create a lower charge.
Check whether VAT and duty are collected before delivery
Revenue explains that the Import One-Stop Shop can be used to collect Irish import VAT at checkout for qualifying goods worth €150 or less. If IOSS was used correctly, no further VAT should be due on import. That does not prove that the €3 duty, a courier fee or every other possible charge is included. Read the order-specific wording and keep the invoice rather than relying on a euro price or a generic 'tax included' badge.
For the new low-value duty, Revenue says some businesses may collect it at checkout while others may leave collection to the delivery company. When charges are not prepaid, the courier or An Post may pay Revenue and recover the amount from the recipient before release. Confirm the live route terms before parcel submission. A payment request that matches a real parcel can be legitimate, but the message itself is not proof.
Treat returns and customs refunds as separate processes
A seller return does not automatically reverse every import charge. Revenue states that when a consumer simply changes their mind and returns low-value goods, the €3 customs duty is not refunded by customs authorities. If IOSS VAT was paid to the seller or platform, any VAT return is handled as part of the retailer's refund and remains subject to its terms.
For goods that are defective or do not match the contract, Revenue directs the consumer to contact the platform or seller first, then the courier or postal operator that completed the import formalities about customs duty and VAT. For consignments over €150, the consumer likewise works with that declarant. Save the return authorisation, export or posting evidence, carrier assessment and seller refund. Decide whether a return is economically sensible before dispatch, not after an avoidable QC issue reaches Ireland.
Screen safety, restrictions and customs-payment scams
Check controlled categories before purchase and again before consolidation. Food, medicines, plants, animal products, weapons, endangered-species materials and cultural goods can face prohibitions or documentary controls. Batteries, liquids, powders, branded goods and radio equipment may affect carrier acceptance even where import is otherwise lawful. Platform acceptance, carrier acceptance and legal import are separate decisions.
EU rules require consumer products sold in the Union to meet applicable safety requirements. CE marking covers defined categories, not every product, and a visible CE logo is not proof of valid documentation or testing. Check the exact category and Safety Gate alerts. Irish Revenue also warns that it will not email or text consumers with a payment link for customs charges. If charges are due at delivery, pay the courier, postal operator or clearance agent through its independently verified channel; An Post says customs texts containing a clickable payment link are scams.
Keep evidence and interpret reviews cautiously
Keep the listing capture, invoice, payment record, QC files, parcel declaration, route terms, carrier statement, customs or VAT receipt, tracking history and delivery photographs together. These records help with a customs query, damaged-item claim, return or comparison between quoted and final cost. Redact names, addresses, payment data, IOSS identifiers and complete tracking numbers before sharing an experience publicly.
No Ireland-specific customer-review sample was used for this guide. The public US App Store displayed five ratings and two identifiable comments when researched, but neither visible comment documented an Irish parcel, declaration, VAT assessment, customs classification or final landed cost. One reviewer described a personal delivery time without establishing destination or shipment evidence; another criticised product discovery without showing an Ireland transaction. Those anecdotes can identify questions to test, but they cannot support an Ireland-wide claim about speed, reliability or customs outcomes.
